Tragedy Strikes in Meerut: Two Laborers Dead, One Seriously Injured in Unapproved Basement Excavation
Meerut: In a shocking incident in Meerut, three laborers found themselves trapped and injured during the unauthorized excavation of a basement in Ganganagar’s U Pocket. The incident unfolded as children playing cricket nearby rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion, attempting to rescue the workers before emergency services arrived.
The incident occurred when the workers were engaged in digging the basement without the necessary approval from the Meerut Development Authority (MDA). The basement excavation took a tragic turn when the earth suddenly caved in, burying the laborers under a mound of soil. The authorities revealed that the excavation was being conducted without proper safety measures, leading to this unfortunate accident.
Local residents and the children playing nearby immediately rushed to the scene and began digging with their bare hands in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped laborers. After a considerable effort, they managed to uncover the hands and head of the workers. The injured were swiftly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
At the hospital, two of the laborers, succumbed to their injuries, while the third laborer remains in critical condition. The injured worker, whose age is estimated to be around 40 to 50 years, has sustained severe injuries and is undergoing extensive medical treatment.
