“The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning.” : National Sports Day celebrated at Army Public School

Meerut : Sports and games are an integral part of our life and have become a way of life for a healthy and fit India. Sports play a pivotal  role in the makeup of a young athlete. Where else can a young impressionable youth learn values like discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, sacrifice and accountability and to remain fit? 

National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th of August every year. It marks the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend, Major Dhyan Chand,  who is regarded as the greatest Hockey player of all times.  

To mark the significance of National Sports Day, Army Public School , organised several activities to inculcate the feeling of true sportsmanship among the children and to enhance their physical and social skills. Students of class 6th to IXth participated in various sports activities  such as Kabaddi and Kho-Kho with great enthusiasm and zeal. Sports and games offer children a change from the monotony of daily life.

Gathering felt exhilarated by Live Sports Quiz, Rendition of Chak De India performance choreographed by Gourab really large enough to be noticed.

On this auspicious day principal Dr. (Mrs.) Reeta Gupta also gave a motivational speech, and also on the benefits of different sports and how the aspiring youth’s energy can be utilised in re-constructing a nation and its glory on the international front. She further highlighted that sports can develop multiple qualities like sense of togetherness, leadership skills ,stamina , planning, patriotism and teamwork. Winners of Inter School Football Tournament were also awarded on this day.
