Successful Diabetes Awareness and Screening Camp Organized by LLR Medical College at Surajkund

Meerut :In an effort to promote health and early detection of diabetes, the Department of Community Medicine at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut, successfully organized a Diabetes Awareness and Screening Camp at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Surajkund. This initiative aimed at raising awareness about diabetes and helping residents take control of the disease through early detection and lifestyle changes.
The camp, held today, witnessed active participation from the local residents of the Surajkund area. Attendees were offered free sugar level screenings, and they received personalized consultations on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent or manage diabetes effectively.
The event was led by Dr. Seema Jain, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with Dr. Neelam Gautam, In-charge of the Urban Health Training Centre. Supporting the initiative were Dr. Roshan, Dr. Mohit, and Dr. Shubhali, who shared valuable insights into the symptoms, causes, and importance of timely identification and treatment of diabetes. They also emphasized the critical role of balanced nutrition and regular exercise in controlling the condition.
The event marked an important step towards increasing health awareness within the community, especially regarding chronic diseases like diabetes. The UHTC team assured that similar health initiatives would continue in the future to help residents lead healthier, more secure lives.
The camp saw the participation of junior residents, intern students, and faculty members, all of whom played an active role in ensuring its success.
Principal Dr. R.C. Gupta commended the Department of Community Medicine for their dedicated efforts in organizing this camp and fostering a greater understanding of diabetes among the Surajkund community.
