Meerut: A leopard, recently rescued from a field in Meerut’s Mubarakpur village, has been safely released into a suitable habitat in the dense Shivalik forest area. The release operation was conducted under the guidance of Range Officer (RO) Parikshitgarh Khushboo Upadhyay and RO Barkala Range Shivalik, Saharanpur, ensuring the leopard’s smooth transition back into the wild.
The leopard had sparked concern among local villagers after being spotted in the fields. Following a meticulously planned rescue operation, led by the forest department, the animal was safely captured. To provide the young leopard with the best chance for survival and minimal human conflict, it was decided to relocate it to the Shivalik forest, a natural and thriving habitat for wildlife.
RO Khushboo Upadhyay expressed satisfaction over the successful release, stating, “It is our responsibility to ensure that wild animals are given a safe environment to thrive. The Shivalik forest provides the ideal setting for the leopard to adapt and live freely.”
Local authorities have also emphasized the importance of timely reporting by residents, which played a crucial role in ensuring the animal’s safety.
The forest department continues to monitor the leopard’s new habitat and has urged citizens to remain vigilant about wildlife sightings to foster a harmonious coexistence with nature.
