Religious Sentiment or Rule Violation? MDA’s Sealing Order in Meerut Sparks Political Uproar

Meerut : A controversy is brewing in the Saraswati Lok area of Meerut, where a house was sealed by the Meerut Development Authority (MDA) following the installation of a religious idol. The sealing, ordered by the MDA Vice-Chairman (VC), has sparked a wave of protest from local political leaders.
Terming the move an attack on religious sentiments, BJP’s Meerut Mahanagar President Vivek Rastogi, along with senior party leader Rituraj Jain and several other office-bearers, met the MDA VC to demand a review of the decision. They argued that the action was not just administrative but one that hurt the emotions of many residents, calling for an immediate reconsideration.

The incident has now taken a political turn, with accusations of bias and selective enforcement being leveled against the administration. BJP leaders assert that religious activities in private homes should not be curtailed in a manner that seems discriminatory.
With public sentiment stirred and political tempers rising, all eyes are now on the MDA, will the authority stand by its original decision, or will it revise the order under public and political pressure?
This developing situation raises larger questions about the intersection of law, religion, and governance in urban residential settings.
