Protest Erupts at Bharat Mata Chowk in Meerut Against Pahalgam Terror Attack

Meerut, April 23, 2025 : The air at Bharat Mata Chowk turned somber and charged with emotion as members of a prominent socio-religious organization gathered in large numbers to protest the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The demonstrators condemned the brutal killing of civilians, allegedly after being asked their religion before being shot—an act that many believe redefines the face of modern terrorism.
In a powerful show of dissent, the group burned effigies representing Pakistan and terrorism, sending a strong message against what they termed “targeted religious violence.”
Before the effigy burning, a tribute was paid to the victims of the Pahalgam attack. The assembly observed a solemn moment of silence, lighting candles and expressing condolences to the bereaved families. Protesters held placards demanding swift justice and called for national unity in the face of such targeted brutality.

Speakers at the event claimed that this attack was not merely an act of terror but a deeply hateful assault on the identity of Hindus in India. They pointed to reports indicating that the assailants demanded religious identification before executing their victims, highlighting the rise of radical extremism under the guise of religion.
The protestors also recalled a recent provocative speech by a militant commander linked to a banned terror outfit, threatening India over the issuance of domicile certificates in Jammu & Kashmir. The same organization has reportedly claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack, citing the domicile policy as a motive and framing it as an act against “demographic change.”
Calling it a sinister collaboration between Pakistan and radical elements, speakers at the protest urged the Government of India to sever all ties with Pakistan and take firm military and diplomatic action. They also demanded a permanent resolution to the issue of local sympathizers and terror supporters within the valley.

The protest drew participation from several key regional leaders and community representatives, who emphasized that India must stand united and resolute in the face of such hate-fueled violence.
As the protest concluded, the message was clear: India will not forget, nor forgive acts of terrorism that strike at the heart of its communal harmony and national integrity.
