Over 150 Pakistani Nationals Sent Back After Pahalgam Terror Attack: ADG Bhanu Bhaskar
Meerut | April 26, 2025
In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, law enforcement agencies across western Uttar Pradesh have taken swift and decisive action. According to Additional Director General (ADG) of Meerut Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar, over 150 Pakistani nationals who had entered the region to visit relatives have been identified and sent back to Pakistan following detailed checks on their travel documents.
The operation, carried out jointly by local police and immigration authorities, primarily focused on the Meerut-Saharanpur division, where a significant number of Pakistani nationals were found to be visiting family members.
“In light of the heightened security concerns following the Pahalgam incident, we undertook a thorough review of all foreign nationals staying in the region. Those from Pakistan, even if on valid visas, were respectfully asked to return, and we ensured that each individual was sent back through the same entry point they had arrived from,” ADG Bhaskar stated.
Among those sent back were four individuals from Meerut, including one woman, who had been staying in the city for family visits. The ADG emphasized that the decision was made purely on precautionary grounds and after careful verification of visas and passports.
“This step is part of broader security protocols. The current circumstances demand vigilance, and we are committed to ensuring public safety while maintaining procedural integrity,” Bhaskar added.
The deportation process was carried out smoothly and without incident, with local authorities working in coordination with immigration services and central intelligence units.
This move follows increased scrutiny of cross-border travel in the aftermath of the cowardly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed several innocent lives and sent shockwaves across the nation.
