“No Entry for Hindus” Controversy Erupts: Abdullah Residency Faces Demolition Over Encroachment, Builder Booked

Meerut : A major row has erupted in Meerut after authorities demolished parts of Abdullah Residency on Hapur Road, following allegations of encroachment on government land and communal discrimination. The housing project, already in the spotlight over accusations of barring Hindus from ownership, was partially bulldozed after officials found 307 square meters of illegally occupied land.
According to Housing Development officials, the builder had erected boundary walls by encroaching upon state land. During the on-site measurement, the encroachment was confirmed, leading to immediate demolition. Builders Mahendra Gupta and Javed Iqbal now face criminal charges.
The demolition drive was not without drama. Officials alleged that during the encroachment removal, they faced misbehavior and resistance from associates linked to the project. Police have stepped in, and an FIR has been registered.
The controversy deepened after a Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister publicly alleged that Abdullah Residency was connected to gangster Sharik’s family and had discriminatory policies, including barring Hindus from ownership. The project reportedly stands on land once linked to Sharik’s grandfather, who faced allegations of illegal land capture. Authorities further believe that, fearing police crackdowns, the gangster roped in Hindu builders to act as a shield.
Worth hundreds of crores, the land on which Abdullah Residency sits is now under scrutiny, with both state and local authorities vowing strict action against any violations.
The case has reignited debates over communal harmony, real estate corruption, and the growing trend of gangster-builder nexuses in NCR’s booming property sector.
