New Winery to Be Set Up in Muzaffarnagar with Annual Capacity Of 54,446 Liters; Will Get Employment and Farmers Will Get Fair Price of Fruits

Muzaffarnagar: The Uttar Pradesh government has given approval for setting up a new winery in the private sector in the Muzaffarnagar district. To be set up by M/s KD Solution Pvt Ltd, this winery can produce 54,446 liters of liquor per year. The wineries have also been instructed to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.

With the establishment of Muzaffarnagar Winery, where on one hand the fruits produced in the state will be used, on the other hand, the farmers will get a fair price for the fruits. The revenue of the government will also increase. With the establishment of the winery, about 50 people will get direct and 150 people indirect employment opportunities.


Ample opportunities in UP to establish the winery industry
Additional Chief Secretary Excise Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that Uttar Pradesh has ample opportunities for setting up of winery industry in terms of production and a variety of fruits and raw materials would be easily available to them. In Uttar Pradesh, 105.41 lakh tonnes of fruits are produced annually on a total area of ​​4.76 lakh hectares. UP ranks third in the country’s fruit production with a 26 percent share.


40 percent of fruits are not used properly in UP
In the sub-tropical zone of the state, mainly the districts of Saharanpur, Bijnor, Bareilly, Pilibhit, etc. come in which fruits like litchi, grafted mango, pineapple, banana, etc. are produced. Bael, lemon, guava, and papaya are mainly produced in the Bundelkhand region. In the plains, fruits like bael, amla, guava, papaya, and mango are produced in abundance. 60 percent of the fruits produced in the state get utilized while 40 percent i.e. 42.16 lakh tonnes of fruits are saved from being put to good use.

Rules made for setting up a winery in UP
The cost of fruits left over from consumption in the state is Rs 4,216.40 crore. The fruit left over from the establishment of the winery industry will be put to good use. He informed that according to the excise policy announced in the year 2021-22, Uttar Pradesh Drakshasavani (Second Amendment) Rules for the establishment of Drakshasavani (Winery) in Uttar Pradesh for the purpose of producing wine from fruits, vegetables, and fruits grown in the state. , 2022 has been published on 28 March.
