Minister Somendra Tomar Accused of Land Grabbing: Former IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur Demands Investigation

Meerut – In a serious allegation, Dr. Somendra Tomar, the Minister of State for Energy and MLA from Meerut South, has been accused of illegally seizing land belonging to local residents. Former IPS officer and National President of the Azad Adhikar Sena, Amitabh Thakur, has formally complained to the Chief Minister, urging a high-level investigation into the matter.

Thakur’s complaint revolves around a plot of land near the Modi Puram Metro Station in Meerut. He has alleged that Minister Tomar has unlawfully blocked access to plots owned by former military personnel. In his complaint, supported by a six-minute and fifty-second video, Thakur claims that the land adjacent to the Vinayak Vidyapeeth School and College, located near a railway crossing, has been seized by the minister.

According to the former IPS officer, Tomar not only blocked the road leading to these plots but also allegedly pressured the plot owners to sell their land at a significantly lower rate. Furthermore, it has been alleged that Tomar’s associates used force and issued threats to the owners. The complaint also accuses the minister of using a bulldozer to demolish boundary walls and roads, making the area inaccessible to the original plot owners.

Thakur has demanded a thorough investigation into these allegations and called for Tomar’s removal from the cabinet, along with the registration of an FIR against him. This is not the first time the minister has been embroiled in such a controversy, as similar allegations have surfaced in the past.

In response, Minister Somendra Tomar has denied the accusations, stating, “The land in question has been with us for a long time. If anyone has objections, they are free to take the matter to court.” He emphasized that the issue should be resolved legally and rejected claims of wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, the situation has escalated as some residents from Pallavpuram, who claim to be affected by the land seizure, have threatened to self-immolate in front of the Commissioner’s office if no action is taken. Among the protestors are elderly women and younger residents who allege that they bought plots in 2009 while earning modest incomes, and now, with the metro station coming up nearby, they feel their land is being unfairly taken away.

“They are using bulldozers meant for criminals’ houses on our innocent plots,” one protestor said, expressing deep frustration. They also alleged that after the demolition, gates were installed around the colony, preventing them from accessing their own land.

The escalating conflict between Minister Somendra Tomar and the local residents continues to draw attention, with the demand for justice growing louder by the day. As the allegations gain momentum, all eyes are on the state’s leadership to see how they will respond to these serious accusations against a sitting minister.
