LIC Agents Stage Nationwide Protests for Key Demands

Meerut, January 8: The Life Insurance Agents Federation of India (LIAFI) has been organizing nationwide protests at LIC branches since October 2024 to press for various demands. Today, hundreds of agents from remote branches of the region gathered at the divisional office in Prabhat Nagar, Meerut, as part of the ongoing agitation.

The agents expressed their dissatisfaction with LIC’s policies and presented a memorandum to senior divisional management officials. Their key demands include:

  1. Removal of claw-back clauses that impact agents negatively.
  2. Increase in bonuses for policyholders.
  3. Exemption of GST on insurance products.
  4. Reinstatement of the minimum insurance sum from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh.
  5. Raising the entry age limit for insurance policies.

The protests, which have been ongoing for two months, aim to draw the attention of both LIC management and the Government of India. Memorandums highlighting these demands have been submitted across the country.

Leadership Speaks:
Addressing the protest, Zonal President Dr. Jaiveer Singh emphasized the organization’s commitment to protecting the interests of LIC agents. “Our agitation will continue until our demands are addressed,” he declared.

Zonal Vice President Manoj Kumar and Zonal Cashier Sultan Singh also voiced their concerns, highlighting the challenges faced by agents and the pressing need for policy changes.

The protest reflects the growing unrest among LIC agents, as they strive for reforms that would not only benefit their profession but also improve the overall experience for policyholders.
