“Every year different kinds of kites come in the market. This year, kites featuring political leaders are also in the market keeping the polls in mind,” one of the kite sellers Danish told Local Post.

Danish has been making kites for the last 20 years. His repertoire includes life-sized kites with large cut outs of national and regional leaders. “These kites with cut outs of political leaders are in great demand. Only time can tell who will win the elections. People have been willing to pay as much as 1,000 rupees for a kite.

PM Modi is the most popular face on the kites.  Apart from images of political leaders, kites with Motu Patlu, Doraemon, cartoon characters and messages like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” are also getting popularity.
