Kathak & Classical Vocal Training Enthralls Young Learners at Ongoing Workshop by Shivangi Sangeet Mahavidyalaya and U.P. Sangeet Natak Akademi

Meerut : The ongoing Kathak dance and classical vocal workshop, jointly organized by Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lucknow, and Shivangi Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Meerut, continued to inspire budding artists across the city with its rich blend of tradition, rhythm, and technique.
The sessions are being held in two shifts: morning classes at the Roorkee Road branch of Shivangi Sangeet Sansthan, and evening sessions at the main campus located at Gandhinagar, Garh Road, Meerut.
Renowned Kathak Guru Smt. Ruchi Baluni conducted an insightful session for students, emphasizing the importance of “Jati” (composition types) across various Talas (rhythmic cycles). Her teachings helped students appreciate the depth and structural intricacies of Kathak, a classical dance form rooted in storytelling and rhythm.
Simultaneously, in the vocal music workshop, classical vocal maestro Guru Shri Raja Baluni led the students through intensive practice in Sargam (solfège) and Sapaat Taan (straight melodic runs), instilling both discipline and creativity among the participants.
This workshop has brought together aspiring artists from across the region, offering them a platform to learn, grow, and preserve India’s classical arts under the guidance of seasoned experts.
