Karwa Chauth Celebrations in Meerut and Ghaziabad: A Night of Love and Fasting

Meerut/Ghaziabad: As the sun dipped below the horizon, married women in Meerut and Ghaziabad gathered to celebrate one of the most revered Hindu festivals, Karwa Chauth. It was a sight to behold as the women came together for the occasion in Siddharth Vihar’s Prateek Grand Society, Ghaziabad.

The grand society’s courtyard transformed into a vibrant setting for the celebrations, with women dressed in traditional attire, exchanging laughter and stories. Pratima, Sarika, Anu, Dipali, Kushma, Rekha, and Lila were among the many women who observed the fast and prayed for the longevity and well-being of their husbands.

Karwa Chauth is an age-old tradition where wives fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their spouses. As the evening sky darkened, they lit earthen lamps and offered prayers to the moon, breaking their fast only after sighting the moon.

This celebration not only represents the love and devotion of married women but also showcases the unity and camaraderie among neighbors, friends, and relatives. It is a testament to the rich cultural heritage that continues to thrive in India, bringing communities together during auspicious occasions like Karwa Chauth.

As the women shared this sacred tradition, they demonstrated that rituals like Karwa Chauth transcend generations and remain an integral part of Indian culture. The evening was a beautiful example of how customs, love, and togetherness intertwine to create moments of joy and significance in people’s lives.
