Jain Community Rallies at Meerut Collectorate to Condemn Vile Parle Temple Demolition

Meerut: In a show of solidarity and outrage, representatives from all major Jain community organizations in Meerut gathered outside the District Collectorate today to protest the recent demolition of a revered Jain temple in Vile Parle, Mumbai. The peaceful but impassioned demonstration drew community members, including monks, temple trustees, and youth volunteers.

United Voice of the Jain Community

Leaders from Jain associations marched in a unified procession to the Collectorate gates, carrying placards bearing slogans such as “Save Our Heritage” and “Respect Our Places of Worship.” The protesters voiced deep concern over what they described as an unprovoked act against a peaceful religious institution.

“Today, we stand not only for our brothers and sisters in Mumbai but for every citizen’s right to practice their faith without fear,” declared a senior monk.

    Demand for Swift Official Response

Elders and youth alike emphasized that the protest was intended as a peaceful call for justice, not an expression of hostility. Manav Jain, said, “Our aim is to protect our heritage through dialogue and legal means. We appeal to the Mumbai administration to engage with us constructively.”

The collective action in Meerut marks one of several demonstrations planned across northern India, as Jain organizations seek nationwide attention on the issue. A follow‑up meeting of Meerut’s Jain bodies is scheduled for next week to coordinate further advocacy and, if necessary, legal recourse.
