Inauguration of CT Simulator and Day Care Ward at LLRM Medical College, Meerut

Meerut : The Department of Radiotherapy at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College, Meerut, marked a significant milestone today with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art CT Simulator and Day Care Ward. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Somendra Tomar, the Honorable Minister of State for Energy, Uttar Pradesh.

During the ceremony, Dr. Tomar extended his congratulations to the entire medical college team for their continuous efforts in advancing healthcare facilities. He also interacted with patients in the new ward, inquiring about their well-being and distributing fruits. The minister expressed his commitment to supporting the medical college’s endeavors, emphasizing his ongoing efforts to secure AIIMS status for LLRM Medical College. This upgrade, he noted, would greatly benefit not only the people of Meerut but also those from surrounding districts like Saharanpur and Moradabad, by providing access to top-notch medical services.

Government’s Commitment to Healthcare

In his address, Dr. Tomar highlighted the state government’s initiative to establish a medical college in every district of Uttar Pradesh, aiming to increase the number of medical students and improve healthcare accessibility. He reiterated the government’s dedication to providing better health services across the state.

Advancing Cancer Treatment

The event also included remarks from key members of the Radiotherapy Department. Dr. Anuj Tyagi, a senior faculty member, explained the dual-edged nature of radiation, describing it as both a powerful tool for curing cancer and a potential risk to healthy individuals. He emphasized that the newly inaugurated CT Simulator would play a crucial role in delivering precise and effective radiotherapy treatments.

Dr. Parul Priyanka, another esteemed member of the department, discussed the significance of the new Day Care Ward. She highlighted that with the introduction of chemotherapy services in the ward, patients in need would no longer have to travel long distances for their treatment. The availability of comprehensive cancer care, including chemotherapy, at LLRM Medical College, is expected to greatly alleviate the burden on patients and their families.

A Vision for the Future

Dr. R.C. Gupta, Principal of LLRM Medical College, reaffirmed his commitment to providing top-tier cancer treatment facilities. He shared his vision of continually enhancing the college’s capabilities to offer international-level care. Dr. Gupta emphasized that the department is equipped with advanced machinery and a team of specialists, making it possible to deliver superior treatment to cancer patients through the newly established CT Simulator and Day Care Ward.

The event also featured a warm welcome by Dr. Yasmeen Usmani, Head of the Radiology Department, who extended her greetings to all guests in attendance. Dr. Dheeraj Raj, Chief Superintendent of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital at LLRM Medical College, expressed his gratitude in the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved in making the event and the new facilities a success.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of medical professionals, including Dr. Yogita Singh, Dr. Tanveer Bano, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Riyaz, Dr. Manu, Dr. Sanjeev, Dr. Preeti, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Dr. Dinesh Rana, Dr. Rahul Singh, as well as junior and senior residents, paramedical staff, and other college employees.
