High Court Quashes FIR Against KMC Hospital Doctors in Alleged Kidney Removal Case

Meerut | May 4, 2025 : In a major legal development, the Allahabad High Court has quashed the First Information Report (FIR) filed against the owner and several doctors of KMC Hospital, Meerut, in connection with a sensational allegation of illegal kidney removal dating back to 2017.
The FIR, which was registered in January 2025 on the orders of a Bulandshahr court, had accused the hospital of surgically removing a woman’s kidney without her consent during a medical procedure. The woman, a resident of Bulandshahr, claimed she only became aware of the missing kidney after falling seriously ill and undergoing diagnostic tests.
According to the complaint, when she confronted hospital authorities, she was allegedly threatened, and her medical records were destroyed in an apparent attempt to suppress the incident. The matter reached the courts, which directed local police to file an FIR and initiate an investigation.
However, during the hearing, Advocate S.K. Dixit, who represented the hospital, argued that the entire case was fabricated and motivated by an attempt to extort money. “This was a calculated effort to malign the hospital’s reputation and force a settlement. When that failed, the FIR was filed,” he said, welcoming the High Court’s decision as a “significant relief” for the medical professionals involved.
The High Court found insufficient grounds to continue the proceedings, thereby providing respite to the hospital and its doctors, who had been under scrutiny since the FIR’s filing earlier this year.
While the court’s ruling closes the legal chapter for now, the case has sparked discussions about patient rights, hospital accountability, and the importance of transparent medical documentation. No official statement has yet been made by the complainant’s legal team following the verdict.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the delicate trust between patients and healthcare providers, and the legal safeguards required to protect both.
