Harry & Meghan: Meghan Markle says she was ‘ashamed’, ‘didn’t want to live’

Harry & Meghan: The first trailer for Harry & Meghan, a Netflix documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has been released. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not holding back this time. According to the show’s synopsis, they will discuss the “other side” of their well-known love story. The first episode of the Netflix documentary series will air on December 8.

During an interview, Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle discussed having suicidal thoughts while a member of the royal family. At the Ripple of Hope Gala in New York, the Duchess of Sussex stated that she went public with her mental health struggles because she “doesn’t want anyone to feel alone.”

Meghan Markle also mentioned how many people around the world felt the same way she did during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry received the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award for challenging the royal family’s “power structure” at an award ceremony honoring individuals for their charitable efforts.

Harry & Meghan is an astounding six-part documentary series that spans the couple’s relationship, from the couple’s courtship to the challenges and controversies that forced them to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. The film is directed by two-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Liz Garbus, who discussed how she approached telling a globally discussed love story from a new angle.

Meghan, who has explained herself as mixed race, also discusses how the media has covered her race. “It’s very different to be a minority but not be treated as one right away.” People are obviously more aware of my race now because they made it such a point when I visited the United Kingdom. “However, prior to that, most people did not treat me as a black woman,” she says.

Six episodes will follow the beginning of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance, which has so far remained a mystery. The episodes will also depict the difficulties that led them to abdicate their royal duties, as well as their transition to their new home in the United States. The first three episodes of the documentary will be available when it premieres, with the remaining three episodes set to be released the following week, beginning on December 15.
