E-Rickshaw Fire Near Ghantaghar Injures Schoolchildren; Prompt Action by Locals Saves Lives

Meerut: A terrifying incident unfolded today near the Ghantaghar municipal office when an e-rickshaw carrying schoolchildren burst into flames after its battery exploded. The fire caused panic as the vehicle quickly caught fire, leaving some children with injuries.

According to witnesses, the e-rickshaw was packed with students heading to school when the battery suddenly exploded, triggering a blaze. Nearby locals immediately sprang into action, rescuing the children from the burning vehicle.

Some of the children sustained minor burns and injuries due to the fire and smoke. They were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital by the locals, who ensured they received immediate medical attention.

The area was soon crowded with concerned onlookers, and the fire department was called to the scene to douse the flames. Officials later stated that a potential battery malfunction might have caused the explosion, though further investigation is underway to confirm the exact cause.

This incident has raised questions about the safety measures in place for battery-operated vehicles, especially those used for school transportation. Parents and residents have urged the authorities to conduct stringent checks on e-rickshaws to prevent such incidents in the future.
