Dust Storm and Thunderstorm Ravage Delhi-NCR, IMD Predicts Light Showers

New Delhi: Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were engulfed by a massive dust storm and thunderstorm on Friday evening, bringing relief from the scorching heat that had gripped the region in recent days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued warnings about the impending weather conditions, forecasting strong winds and the possibility of light showers.

The dust storm, accompanied by gusty winds with speeds ranging from 50 to 70 km/h, swept across the entire Delhi-NCR region, including areas such as Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Residents were caught off guard as the sudden onset of the storm disrupted normalcy in the bustling metropolitan area.

The IMD’s prediction of light showers provided some respite to residents who had been enduring sweltering temperatures. With the mercury soaring to a scorching 42 degrees Celsius earlier this week, the prospect of rain brought a glimmer of hope for relief from the oppressive heat.

Earlier warnings from the IMD had alerted residents to the possibility of severe weather conditions, prompting authorities to advise precautionary measures. The forecast indicated thunderstorms accompanied by rain, which was expected to provide temporary relief from the stifling heatwave that had persisted in the region.

In the wake of the dust storm and thunderstorm, residents were urged to exercise caution and stay indoors to ensure their safety. The sudden change in weather conditions underscored the importance of staying vigilant and prepared for such eventualities, especially during the peak of summer when extreme weather phenomena are common.

As the dust settled and the storm subsided, residents braced themselves for the aftermath, with hopes that the predicted light showers would bring much-needed relief and respite from the relentless heatwave that had gripped the region.
