DJ Competition Throws Traffic Out of Gear in Saket Area, Puts Lives at Risk

Meerut: Even as Ganesh Chaturthi festivities filled the city with celebration, chaos unfolded in the Saket locality under Civil Lines police station limits on Sunday. A DJ competition in the congested lanes of Nagla Battu, Pragati Nagar, brought traffic to a grinding halt and created alarming safety hazards for residents and commuters alike.
Organizers had lined up DJs on both sides of the narrow roads, effectively blocking movement. To make matters worse, several youths were seen sitting atop the DJ trucks, dangerously close to overhead power cables, risking their lives for the sake of the contest.
Despite the district administration’s ban on such processions and competitions, locals reported that over 50 DJs had already passed through the area by the afternoon, with more still expected. Each DJ was participating in separate competitions, escalating the scale of disruption. The presence of police in the area did little to ease the situation, as enforcement appeared absent on the ground.
Residents expressed anger and frustration, pointing out that such negligence has led to mishaps in the past as well. “The administration knows about these events, yet nothing is done to stop them. Are they waiting for a tragedy to act?” said one resident, demanding immediate intervention and strict action against violators.
The situation highlights a stark failure of law enforcement in curbing public nuisance and ensuring safety during festivals, even after repeated warnings and restrictions.
