DGP Uttar Pradesh Issues Directives Amid Severe Heatwave

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh – In response to the severe heatwave conditions, the Director General of Police (DGP) Uttar Pradesh has issued a series of directives aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of police personnel across the state. These instructions are targeted at various levels of the police force, including Zonal Additional Directors General of Police, Police Commissioners, Range Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, Senior Superintendents of Police, and Superintendents of Police.
The directives emphasize the importance of keeping police personnel safe and well-informed about fire safety measures amidst rising temperatures and increasing fire incidents.

Key Instructions Issued by the DGP:
- Provision of Pure and Cool Drinking Water:
- Ensure the availability of pure and cool drinking water at all police stations and outposts within Commissionerates and districts.
- Hydration and Nutrition:
- encourage police personnel with drinking water, lemon electrolytes, Glucon-D, and ORS before and after duty.
- Encourage the consumption of cooling foods such as sattu and buttermilk.
- Traffic Booths and Cooling Facilities:
- Repair and maintain traffic booths at intersections to provide shelter and ensure proper arrangements for cold water.
- Health Monitoring:
- Area officers and station in-charges are instructed to regularly check on the well-being of police personnel in their areas.
- Implement a rotational duty system to ensure regular shifts and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
- Instruct that sick police personnel are not assigned duties in direct sunlight.
- Daily Health Checks:
- Conduct daily health assessments of police personnel during roll call at stations and barracks.
- Immediate Medical Response:
- Ensure immediate medical treatment at the first sign of heatwave symptoms.
- Fire Safety Measures:
- Strategically deploy fire service vehicles and personnel.
- Keep fire stations on alert and ready to respond to even minor fire incidents.
- Identify fire-prone areas and ensure prompt action in case of fire.
- Fire Safety Audits:
- Conduct fire safety audits of shopping malls, gaming zones, multi-story complexes, commercial establishments, schools, railway and bus stations, and hotels and restaurants.

These measures are intended to protect the health of police personnel and enhance fire safety protocols, reflecting the DGP’s commitment to the well-being of the force and public safety during the extreme heatwave.
