CCTV Captures Assault at Meerut Agricultural University, Security Under Scrutiny
Meerut, September 17, 2025 In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over campus safety, a violent assault at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Daurala police station limits was caught on CCTV. The footage, which has since gone viral locally, shows a group of youths beating a student, allegedly led by the victim’s former lover.
According to preliminary police reports, the assailants suspected the victim of maintaining a relationship with the woman, which sparked the confrontation. The ex-boyfriend, along with his associates, cornered the student and attacked him in broad daylight, leaving bystanders alarmed and questioning how such an incident could occur on a university campus.
The CCTV recording has provided crucial leads for investigators, who are now working to identify and apprehend the attackers. Police officials confirmed that raids are being conducted and that arrests are likely soon. “We have clear visual evidence and are confident of tracking down the culprits,” a police spokesperson said.
The assault has cast a shadow over the university, with students and parents voicing concerns about inadequate security measures. “If such violence can happen inside the campus, what assurance do we have about our safety?” asked one student who witnessed the aftermath.
The university administration has faced criticism for lapses in vigilance and is expected to review its security protocols. Meanwhile, police patrols in and around the campus have been intensified to prevent further disturbances.
The incident highlights the growing issue of personal disputes spilling into public and institutional spaces, raising questions about both law enforcement readiness and campus administration’s ability to ensure a safe learning environment.
