Car Driver Creates Chaos at Shivaya Toll in Meerut, Attempts to Run Over Toll Worker

Meerut, August 17, 2025 – A shocking incident unfolded at Shivaya Toll Plaza in Meerut, where a car driver allegedly created havoc and attempted to mow down a toll employee multiple times.

According to eyewitnesses and preliminary reports, the driver of a Scorpio SUV refused to comply with toll procedures and, in a fit of rage, drove the vehicle towards a toll worker. Shockingly, he made three separate attempts to run over the staff member, causing panic among other workers and commuters at the busy toll plaza.

Driver Flees the Scene

After the violent act, the Scorpio driver managed to flee the scene at high speed. The sudden and dangerous moves left the toll worker narrowly escaping serious injury. Several commuters present at the toll booth captured portions of the incident on their mobile phones, which are now being reviewed by the authorities.

Police Investigation Underway

The Meerut Police have taken cognizance of the matter and launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver. Teams are scrutinising CCTV footage from the toll plaza and surrounding areas to identify the vehicle and its owner. Police sources confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against the accused, once apprehended.

Concerns Over Safety at Toll Plazas

The incident has sparked concerns regarding the safety of toll employees, who often face verbal and physical abuse from irate drivers. Such cases highlight the urgent need for better security arrangements, including quick-response police presence, panic alarms, and stricter enforcement measures at toll plazas across Uttar Pradesh.

The victimised toll worker, though shaken, escaped without life-threatening injuries. His colleagues have demanded stern action against the culprit to prevent similar attacks in the future.

As investigations progress, residents and commuters in Meerut await justice, hoping this incident serves as a wake-up call for stronger protective measures for frontline toll staff.
