Broad Daylight Murder Sparks Panic in Meerut’s Civil Lines Area

Meerut, July 30, 2025: A chilling incident of broad daylight murder sent shockwaves through Meerut’s Civil Lines area on Wednesday, when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle gunned down a youth, also riding a two-wheeler, in full public view.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Salim, was returning home from the district court (Kachahari) after completing formalities related to a property transaction when the attackers struck. Eyewitnesses claim the assailants fired two bullets at Salim — one hitting his waist and the other piercing his neck — leading to his death on the spot.

The assailants, unfazed by the presence of passersby, reportedly brandished their weapons while fleeing the scene, creating an atmosphere of panic in the locality.

Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the spot. Senior officials, accompanied by police personnel, conducted a preliminary investigation. The police sent Salim’s body for post-mortem after completing the necessary formalities.

SP City confirmed that initial investigations suggest the murder could be the result of a property-related rivalry. “We suspect this to be a case of enmity. Salim had just completed a property registration process and was likely targeted due to some ongoing dispute,” said the official.

Law enforcement agencies are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the perpetrators and trace their route. A manhunt has been launched, and efforts are underway to arrest those involved.
