Brave Youth Becomes Local Hero as Snake Sightings Surge in Pandav Nagar Colony, Meerut

Meerut, Pandav Nagar : Residents of a Meerut Development Authority (MDA)-approved colony near Joke Dairy Farm in Saket Civil Lines are grappling with an unusual and alarming issue, frequent snake sightings, including venomous species like king cobras and massive pythons.

Over the past few weeks, the area has witnessed a spike in reptile appearances, sending waves of fear across households. But amid the panic, a young local resident, Ankit Gupta of Pandav Nagar, has emerged as a community savior.

Working closely with the forest department, Ankit has safely captured several snakes from residential areas. Just days ago, he bravely extracted a nearly 8-foot-long snake hiding inside a neem tree adjacent to the dairy farm. Prior to that, he removed a python that was slithering along a boundary wall of the same farm.

Residents say snake sightings are now almost routine – “one day a python, the next a king cobra.” Despite the risk, Ankit continues to respond swiftly, ensuring minimal panic and safe removal of the reptiles.

Locals are calling for immediate intervention by the forest department and municipal authorities, demanding regular inspection of the surrounding wild patches, especially near dairy farms, and urging better habitat management to prevent such encounters in residential zones.

Ankit’s courage and quick action have not only saved lives but also brought temporary relief to many frightened families. Community members now hail him as “Meerut’s own Snake Rescuer.”
