Boond Foundation Raises Awareness Against Unauthorized Tree Cutting

Meerut : Boond Foundation Trust organized an awareness campaign today in front of Meerut College, against the activity along the Sardhana Ganga Canal Road, addressing the issue of trees being cut down beyond the permissible limits in the name of road widening.
Ravi Kumar, the founder and director of Boond Foundation, highlighted the irresponsible actions leading to the felling of trees wider than the approved 14-meter width. He emphasized that this issue is currently under consideration by the National Green Tribunal (OA 238/2024, 29.02.2024). The unauthorized and judicially disregarded cutting of trees is deeply concerning, and if it continues, the organization plans to escalate the complaint and initiate a protest.
Prince Agarwal, the deputy secretary of the foundation, expressed concern over the potential severe heat that both humans and stray animals might face next year if the indiscriminate cutting of trees persists. He urged responsible officials to consider relocating the trees using modern techniques instead of cutting them down.
Other members present at the awareness event included Fazal Karim, Ritisha, Qasim, Tushar Shaily, Mahak Dahiya, Divyansh, Gurwinder Singh, Mukul Rastogi, and Shahzad. The Boond Foundation remains committed to protecting the environment and advocating for sustainable solutions.
