Army Public School Meerut Celebrates 10th International Yoga Day with Yoga Mahotsav

Meerut: The Army Public School in Meerut Cantt celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with remarkable enthusiasm, hosting a four-day event titled “Yoga Mahotsav” from June 18 to June 21, 2024, at the APJ Abdul Kalam Arena. This event aimed to highlight the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual well-being among students and staff.
The celebration began with a brief introduction to International Yoga Day, followed by a formal welcome of the school principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Reeta Gupta, and Lt. Col. Manish Sharma, the administrative officer. Each day of the event started with early morning yoga sessions led by trained yoga instructor Ms. Shikha Dhama. Participants were taught various forms of yoga, including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Pranayama, under the supervision of the Physical Education Department. Both students and staff members actively participated, learning different asanas and relaxation techniques.


The final day of the Yoga Mahotsav featured captivating yoga demonstrations by students, showcasing the skills and knowledge they had acquired. The event concluded with an inspiring speech by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Reeta Gupta. She encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly to stay fit and improve concentration. She emphasized the significance of yoga in maintaining harmony between the body and mind.
“The practice of yoga is essential for holistic well-being,” Dr. Gupta stated. “It not only promotes physical fitness but also nurtures mental and emotional health. Yoga fosters a balanced life and enhances the overall educational experience.”
The Yoga Mahotsav organized by Army Public School, Meerut, for the 10th International Yoga Day was a resounding success. It fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of yoga among students, staff, and the broader community. The event reinforced the school’s commitment to holistic education and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
