Ahluwalia becomes Meerut Mayor, credits PM-CM for win and highlights development plans for the city

Meerut: BJP candidate Harikant Ahluwalia has won a historic victory in the Mayoral election in Meerut. Ahluwalia credited his win to Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s development work. After his victory, Ahluwalia emphasized the importance of progress in Meerut. He said that this victory is thanks to the trust of the people and the hard work of thousands of workers. Ahluwalia managed to defeat AIMIM candidate Anas with 235953 votes, while Anas received 107406 votes. This victory came as a major setback for the Samajwadi Party candidate, Seema Pradhan, who received 115964 votes. BSP candidate Hashmat Malik received 54076 votes, while Congress candidate Nasim received 15473 votes. Meanwhile, AAP candidate Richa Singh received 6256 votes.

Ahluwalia’s priorities as a Mayor include improving the drainage system and waste management, addressing traffic congestion, and forming a coordination committee with representatives and business organizations to find solutions for the city’s problems. He also plans on promoting development across the entire region. “I will live up to the trust the people have placed in BJP and work towards making Meerut a smart city by solving its problems and bringing progress,” Ahluwalia stated.
