An orange alert has been issued for several districts in western Uttar Pradesh following weather updates received through the ‘Sachet’ mobile application. According to the forecast, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30–40 km/h is expected over the next three hours.
The districts likely to be affected include:
Amroha, Baghpat, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Sambhal, and Shamli.
Authorities have urged residents in these areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay indoors during the storm, and keep away from electric poles, trees, and open fields. Farmers and construction workers in particular have been warned to suspend outdoor activities until the weather stabilizes.
Disaster management teams and local administrations have been put on alert to respond promptly in case of any weather-related emergencies. Power companies have also been asked to remain on standby to handle potential disruptions.
Meteorological experts stated that this is part of an active monsoon phase currently affecting parts of northern India, and more such systems may develop in the coming days.
