Meerut’s Shubham Hospital Achieves Breakthrough in Treating Rare Neonatal Liver Disorder

Meerut : In a remarkable medical feat, Shubham Hospital & Child Care Centre, located in Meerut Cantt, has successfully treated a newborn diagnosed with neonatal hemochromatosis, one of the rarest and most life-threatening liver disorders in infants.

The infant, who was admitted in a critical condition with severe liver dysfunction, sepsis, and hemolysis, had dangerously high bilirubin levels (60 mg/dL), alarmingly low hemoglobin (5 g/dL), and platelet counts as low as 40,000.

Under the expert supervision of Dr. Shubham Jain, Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, the medical team implemented a comprehensive treatment strategy combining IV immunoglobulin therapy, exchange transfusions, and advanced liver support care. The coordinated effort resulted in the successful stabilization and complete recovery of the newborn.

Dr. Jain stated, “Our goal is to ensure that children in Meerut and surrounding areas have access to tertiary-level pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology services without the need for urgent transfers to metro cities. This case demonstrates that such critical care can now be delivered locally with world-class outcomes.”

The achievement stands as a milestone in Meerut’s medical landscape, showcasing the city’s growing capacity for advanced pediatric and neonatal critical care. For families in Western Uttar Pradesh, it signifies hope and confidence that specialized life-saving interventions are now within their reach.
