Meerut’s Mohsin Dies in Delhi Blast Near Red Fort, E-Rickshaw Driver and Father of Two Was the Sole Breadwinner

Delhi/Meerut, : A pall of grief descended upon Meerut after news broke that Mohsin (35), a resident of the city, was among those killed in the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. Mohsin, who earned a living driving an e-rickshaw, was ferrying passengers at the time of the explosion when his vehicle was caught in the blast, leading to his tragic death on the spot.

According to local sources, Mohsin, a father of two, had moved from Meerut to Delhi about two years ago in search of better livelihood opportunities. He was living with his wife and children in the capital and earned around ₹500–₹600 a day, barely managing to make ends meet.

Family members said Mohsin had been married for ten years and was known for his hard work and gentle nature. His death has left his family devastated. His father, Rafiq, who works in a handloom factory, broke down upon hearing the news. Rafiq has 11 children – six sons and five daughters, all of whom are daily-wage laborers struggling to survive.

Tension reportedly erupted between Mohsin’s in-laws and his father’s family over the burial location. While his wife’s family in Delhi wished to perform the burial there, Rafiq insisted that his son be laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Meerut.

Relatives and neighbors gathered at the family’s rented home in Meerut to console the grieving parents, describing Mohsin as a hardworking man who had “no enemies and no bad habits — just the burden of poverty.”

The family has appealed to the government for financial assistance, urging that the tragedy be investigated thoroughly and support extended to Mohsin’s widow and children.
