The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 12 results on Tuesday, revealing a notable trend: girls have outperformed boys by a wide margin of over 5 percentage points. The overall pass percentage stands at 88.39%, slightly up from 87.98% in 2024.

According to CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, 91.64% of girls passed the Class 12 exams, compared to 85.70% of boys. Transgender candidates achieved a 100% pass rate, a remarkable improvement from 50% last year.

Out of 16.92 lakh students who appeared for the Class 12 examination this year:

  • 1,11,544 students scored above 90%
  • 24,867 students scored above 95%
While this marks a slight dip from last year’s 1.16 lakh (90%+) and 24,068 (95%+) scorers, it remains a strong academic showing overall.

Children with special needs also made their mark, with 290 students scoring above 90%, and 55 students exceeding the 95% mark.

However, not all results brought cheer – over 1.29 lakh students have been placed in the compartmental category, a slight rise from 1.22 lakh in 2024.

Regional and Institutional Highlights:

  • Vijayawada region recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.60%, followed closely by Trivandrum at 99.32%.
  • Prayagraj had the lowest pass percentage at 79.53%.
  • Among school types, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas led with a staggering 99.9% pass rate, while private/independent schools reported 87.94% — the lowest.
  • Foreign schools saw a slight dip in performance, from 95.84% in 2024 to 95.01% this year.

Meanwhile, CBSE also released the Class 10 board results, with a pass percentage of 93.66%. The Class 10 exams were conducted from February 15 to March 1, and the Class 12 exams ran until April 4, 2025. Over 44 lakh students registered for CBSE’s 10th and 12th board exams this year.

Students can check their results on cbse.gov.in and other platforms such as cbseresults.nic.in, digilocker.gov.in, and via apps like UMANG and DigiLocker.

As India’s students gear up for the next chapter in their academic journey, this year’s results underscore both their resilience and the continued need for inclusive, quality education.
