Ghaziabad Youth Save Lives Through WhatsApp Blood Donation Group ; Over 800 Volunteers Ready to Donate at a Moment’s Notice

Ghaziabad : At a time when private hospitals are often refusing blood from official blood banks and asking families to arrange donors directly, a group of young volunteers from Raj Nagar Extension, Ghaziabad, have become a lifeline for patients in distress.
Formed in 2020, the WhatsApp group named “Rakt Daan Maha Daan” has grown into a powerful network of over 800 active volunteers who respond instantly to calls for help by reaching hospitals and donating blood, no questions asked, no strings attached.
The latest example of their selfless service came when 17-year-old Riya, a girl from Bihar undergoing blood transfusion treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi, required a rare blood match on short notice. Her father, Sanjay Kumar, made a desperate plea for help. Within hours, two volunteers — 24-year-old Buland Tyagi (Ghaziabad) and Karan Begwani rushed to the hospital and donated plasma, helping save her life.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Riya’s father said, “I didn’t know these young men, but they came as angels when my daughter needed them most. I bless them with a long and happy life.”
According to the group’s founder, Deepanshu Mittal, the initiative began when he realized how many patients lose their lives due to the non-availability of blood at critical moments. “We wanted to create something quick, local, and dependable,” Mittal said. “Our only goal is to ensure that no one dies waiting for blood. I urge people across India to form similar community groups, it doesn’t take much to save a life.”
Since its inception, the group has helped hundreds of patients across Ghaziabad, Delhi, and NCR, from accident victims to cancer patients. Volunteers often travel long distances, sometimes even during late hours, to reach hospitals and donate blood or plasma.
In an era where social media is often criticized for misinformation and negativity, Rakt Daan Maha Daan stands out as an inspiring example of how technology and compassion can come together to create real, life-changing impact.
