Fake Cop Busted in Meerut: Poser Extorted Money, Carried Weapon

Meerut: In a dramatic late-night raid, Meerut Police apprehended a man posing as a Delhi Police constable near the Kashi toll plaza on Thursday.

The incident unfolded around 1 am when Partapur police station personnel flagged down a car adorned with police insignia heading towards Delhi. The driver, Manish Kumar, initially presented himself as a Delhi Police constable and even showed a fake ID. However, inconsistencies in his responses raised suspicion among the officers.

A swift interrogation revealed discrepancies in Kumar’s story, leading to his immediate arrest. Police suspect Kumar exploited his fabricated identity to extort money from unsuspecting victims. The situation escalated further when authorities found an illegal weapon in his possession.

Manish Kumar is currently in police custody, and formal charges are pending. This arrest highlights the importance of police vigilance in tackling impersonation and fraud within law enforcement.

Meerut Police, who had received prior complaints about Kumar’s activities, are continuing their investigation.
