The main focus in the workshop was ‘Capacity Building on Inclusive Education’, where educationist Dr Pooja Shivam Jaitely from Noida and Monika Sharma ( Principal DAV Public School, Pilakhua) expressed their views on needs of intellectual disabled children. They also focused on inclusion of such children in the classroom with the other children. This will enhance their self-confidence and they in turn will become self-reliant. The teachers should provide them with such environment that doesn’t hinder their progress.
For this they should innovate and use new techniques, investigative strategies etc for challenges faced in their social and professional life. The school management should also help these children for the same cause. The participants of the workshop were also given opportunities to give their views.
The Primary wing Headmistress Mamta Singh and Coordinator Preeti Tyagi along with the resource person thanked the participants and encouraged them to give equal rights to such children in field of education and to give importance to inclusive education. For this the educators should respect the child’s emotional needs, should identify their skills and build their self- confidence.
