Caught On Camera: Ghaziabad Residents Want Action After Violent Dog Attacks

Ghaziabad : In a horrific incident, a dog bit a boy in society’s lift in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Surveillance video from security cameras mounted inside Lift’s in Charms Castle society of Rajnagar Extension Ghaziabad shows a child being attacked by a pet dog inside the lift. In a CCTV footage, the dog is seen pouncing on the boy and bit him. The pet owner kept looking at the boy and did not act. The boy was seen crying in pain.

After the pandemic outbreak, pet adoption has seen an all-time rise in the state and the department has failed to ensure vaccination and pet licensing for domestic animals. “During the pandemic, the adoption of pet animals went up drastically.

Though pet licensing has been made mandatory, the local bodies have failed in implementing it.  “Orders have been given to local bodies to ensure registrations of the pet animals and ensure the entire pet population in their respective jurisdictions are vaccinated,” the official added.

However, the app GMC Pets for pet registrations with Municipal Corporation is crashing / not working properly most of the times.

This is a direct result of eroding responsible ownership, no licensing, making excuses for dog attacks, not holding owners responsible, no enforcement of dog control & ownership laws. “I can’t live in fear at my own house. I just can’t live like this anymore,” father of the child told local post. “Nobody in this neighborhood should have to live like that.”

Residents tell Despite multiple reports and complaints filed with the city’s Nagar Nigam, the dogs suspected in the attacks are still living in the neighborhood, where they have continued to terrorize the kids and residents. Angry residents are trying to understand why…
