
Congress, which entered the electoral fray by giving the slogan of ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ in Uttar Pradesh, today took out a big march in Lucknow on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Thousands of women and girls participated in the march. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, on Tuesday, that her party fought the electoral battle hard. “We fought as hard as we could. We will wait and see the results,” she said.
Priyanka, who reached Lucknow on Tuesday to lead a march under the party’s ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign in Uttar Pradesh, said, “Today’s march is to celebrate our 159 women candidates. I think it is a big thing that all of them fought, and on International Women’s Day we should celebrate them.”

Priyanka Gandhi said that she can fight and no one can stop us. Along with this, Priyanka Gandhi claimed that we have not given this slogan only for elections but it is a movement and women have to get their rights. According to the information, all the women who were given tickets in the assembly by the Congress have participated in this march.
Priyanka led the all-women march form 1090 crossing to National Botanical Garden crossing. Apart from 159 women candidates of the party, women MLAs, MPs and leading women in various fields were invited for the padyatra. All India Mahila Congress President Netta D’Souza said that the girl child, can fight is not just a campaign slogan but it is an effort to ensure women empowerment. Priyanka had raised issues related to women during and before the assembly election also. The Congress had also contested the Unnao Sadar assembly seat by giving a party ticket to the mother of the Unnao rape victim.
The exit polls have predicted a comfortable majority for the BJP in UP while the Congress remains at the periphery with most polls giving it a single digit tally. The exit polls were released on Monday evening after the seventh and last phase of the election in Uttar Pradesh.
